Oksana Baiul is a Ukrainian retired competitive figure skater who is the 1993 World champion and the 1994 Olympic champion in ladies’ singles. Born Oksana Sergeyevna Baiul on November 16, 1977 in Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, she is the only child of Marina and Sergei Baiul who divorced when Oksana was two. She discovered her passion for ice skating at the age of 3, and began to win competitions when she was 7. She is married to Carlo J. Farina with whom she has one daughter, Sophia.
