Abby Lee Miller is an American dance instructor, reality television personality, and choreographer, best known as the director and owner of Reign Dance Productions. She was also the founder of the Abby Lee Dance Company and appeared on the Lifetime reality television series Dance Moms for seven seasons. Born on September 21, 1966 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to parents Maryen Lorrain (McKay), a dance teacher, and George L. Miller, she belongs to English and Irish descent. Abby learned to dance from her mother, Maryen, who ran a dance studio in Penn Hills. At the age of 14, she started her own company, and by 1980 she had her own studio. She began to appear in the Lifetime reality television show Dance Moms in 2011.
